3 Key Things To Pay Attention To In Web Design
When putting together the ideal website it is important to understand what the visitor is seeing.
The layout and design of the website has to be able to keep the visitors’ attention long enough for him or her to understand the organization’s call to action. According to studies, you have about three seconds to capture the visitor’s attention before he/she chooses to stay or go.
The way it looks, its flow and how easy it is to find information all play a part in the success of the website.
So what are the key elements on which to focus when designing a site?
Typography
Typography refers to the arrangement of type.
It involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning).
Typography, in it’s own subtle way, can give shape to a website. The font used, how it is positioned and how much type to use can be the difference in web success or failure.
As stated earlier, you only have a small amount of time to deliver a message. In order to keep visitors on the site, you want to make sure the information is simple to read. The use of the proper type, headers, spacing and positioning will give the visitor a better user experience.
Resources:
Colors
As soon as you come to a website, the colors can deliver a particular message.
A good use of shades and color combinations set the website’s tone and encourages the visitor to explore the rest of the site.
Colors have always been used to evoke particular feelings in people. Colors set the mood, establish the motion and create the energy of the website.
Resources:
Content
There’s not much about content that has not already been said.
I know you have heard more times than needed that content is king. Whether that is true or not, it definitely is a major part of the total web design package.
The way your content flows, what it is saying and what information is being delivered are critical to emphasizing an organization’s purpose.
A visitor needs to have a clear idea of the message being conveyed. Whether it is a lot of content or a small amount of content, the focus should be on creating quality information.
Content also needs to have structure. The information placed on a website needs to be well planned out. Good content writing improves SEO and gives a visitor a purposeful experience.
Contracting with a good content-writing service may be something to consider in order to maximize the strength of the web content.

Great article, I especially love the color resources the first resource kind of gave me some matches that werent to visually pleasing to me at least. Fonts are huge I have been trying to get the perfect font combo for the http://www.nightclubposters.com website im working on. Some of the best fonts I have come up on are the Futura series and the London fonts. Colors I find myself always starting with silver and adding an accent.
I think people are still not understanding how important proper color usage and type arrangement is. it can make or break a website. Thanks for your comment Andy. Nice site by the way. That fuschia/hotpink color combo was a nice touch to brighten up the site.
