Logos of the Modern Day Summer Olympics

Every four years, in the heat of the Summer, the excitement of the world’s greatest athletes gathering in one city to compete fills the air. It is the summer Olympics and for the third time in it’s history it is in London, England.

The modern day Olympics started in 1896 in Athens, Greece (the site of the original Olympic games from 8th century BC to the 4th century AD) and occur every four years. For each year, the Olympic Committee designs a logo for that year’s games. The logos usually represents the city and times of that year. You could say that the logos paint a pictorial timeline using different designs elements.

Here is a collection of the various logos of the Summer Olympic games from 1896 to 2012.
