Over-thinkers Should NOT Blog

Man thinking

When it comes to blogging, consistency is important. Not only to keep your audience engaged, but also to make sure your writing skills are kept sharp and that content is kept fresh. So, with that in mind, it would make sense to say that blogging isn’t for people who have to always think things out to the highest degree. Don’t get me wrong, thinking before you write is important of course. You don’t want to create any material that sounds like a three-year-old typed it out, but putting too much thought into it can leave your blog stagnant. What are the reason over-thinker should never blog?

Over-thinkers Never Write

Why do they never write? Because they are always thinking. Nothing gets put into text if you cannot settle your mind long enough to even think of a title. Topics change with every thought and as days turn into weeks, your blog goes untouched. When you do finally write you never think it’s complete. You want to add that final paragraph or find that perfect ending sentence. Your post becomes a draft never to be published.

Over-thinkers Write Too Much

I know this may contradict the first reason but let me explain. An over-thinker is determined to try and solve the world’s problem in one post. Blogs are used to initiate thought, provide information, instruct and/or deliver information. There’s no room for full length manuals or in-depth problem-solving. While your mind is generating all kinds of thoughts, your job is to break those thoughts down to simple bullet points and create a nice concise post that will give your reader just enough to be informed but still want more.

Over-thinkers Care Too Much

Frustrated Child Writing

Of course you should care some. The words you spill into the world-wide web could be there forever. Your blog content can effect the way people view you and your brand. However, understand that as long as you remain honest, respectful and tactful you don’t have to worry so much about how people see your words. You are not going to please all the people all of the time. Some people are going to disagree with you regardless of how well put and accurate your content is. And as time goes on, the more you blog, and the more visitors that come to your site the more criticism you will face. Stop spending so much time thinking about the critics and use your thinking time writing.

Just because you re an over-thinker now doesn’t mean you have to always be one. You can change your ways and become the blogger you always wanted to be. Just sit down and start writing. You’ll be amazed at what pours out of your mind when you simply stop thinking (so much).

Are you an overthinker? How much do you blog verses how much you think about blogging?
