Thanks Nayby. It’s a pretty nasty virus but there are several antivirus and anti malware programs that can help.I have used CA Anti Virus before. Pretty good software. I appreciate your input on what helped for you.

I use CA Anti Virus, which have someone available 24/7 to chat with regarding any issues. They were really helpful and I got rid of it no worries!

Thanks a bunch John! Good to get alternative methods to get rid of this virus. The problem I was running into was I couldn’t bring up the the task manager while the “welcome” message was up. I ended up having to start my computer in safe mode to get anything accomplished.

Had this the other evening. When I restarted I saw the thinkpoint ‘Welcome’ message instead of my desktop. CTRL, ALT, DEL lets you cancel this process. You will then need to start a new task – “explorer.exe” to get your start bar back.

From here, do a system restore to a few days before hand – a point before you experienced issues. One you have done this, get yourself a copy of PC Tools Spyware Doctor (its free to scan, but virus removal requires subscription of £29.99 a year – you cant afford not to. This covers 3 computers).
